I’m super choosy about the circles in which I run. I believe strongly that birds of a feather flock together, and if you ever find yourself to be the smartest person in the room…change your room. I pride myself in my ability to accurately measure the character and potential of a person. I sniff the air for ambition, or Hustle – the internal fortitude or “go-gettum” attitude one possesses; the desire to achieve without external stimulation or incentive. And honey, erbody aint got it…
Birds of a feather flock together…
After living in Orlando for nearly two years, I began to slowly build my social circle. As I strategically built my network, I found that the people I was most drawn to and began to call friend were entrepreneurial (full-time or side-hustle) and successful in their own right – focused, driven, and excited about life and their place in it. These people didn’t wonder what to do with themselves, but had a clear understanding that they had something to offer to the world (or at least their community). More so, many of these new friends were women. Devoutly feminine, genuine, beautiful, honorable, possessing unique character or je ne sais quoi, wise, and all while retaining an affinity for self-adornment lacquered over BAWSE-ness.
Why do I admire these women?
- Because in a dripping world oversaturated with images of women soaked in sex and submission, these bawse ladies say Hell nawl, I aint the one.
- Because in an age of complacency, no one required them to be great.
- Because they don’t beg for handouts, but bask in forging their own paths.
- Because they weren’t told to live or stand for something, but are keepers of their own flames.
- Because they won’t fucking quit.
So it’s only right to celebrate the work of these entrepreneurial queens, some new friends, other more seasoned…because as much as these women hype up Ama, they inspire the fuck outta me.
